With her husband dead, Sydney’s mother-of-two, Emily, decided to start a shop in her backyard.
“We’ve been doing it since I was a little girl, I started to think about it more when I was in school,” she told Business Insider.
People are dying and I thought I’d give something for it.” “
There’s no one out there that doesn’t need it.
People are dying and I thought I’d give something for it.”
A few months ago, Emily started selling handmade items, from tea to candles to flowers, to people she knows.
“People just want to have something to put their name on, that’s why they come to me,” she said.
“The way I work is that I take all the handmade items that I want and put them in a box.
I send them out, and they go out into the community.”
“People really want it to go out and I’ve got to put it out there, so I’m trying to do that with as much as I can.”
Her business is still going strong, and she’s hoping to expand it further in the future.
“It’s really important that I get people to think of handmade items as something to give back to,” she added.
“They’re so beautiful.
They’re so well made.
There’s not many people that can say that about something like that.” “
You can see it on the inside.
There’s not many people that can say that about something like that.”
