Norwegian handmade products are among the best in the world.
And they’re becoming more popular and more affordable.
That’s thanks to the internet.
Now, you can find them on your doorstep and on Etsy, and even on Amazon.
But the market isn’t yet saturated, says Anna Køstgaard, who heads up Norwegian handmade, and local, business promotion and education.
“The internet is the main driver of this.
It’s really growing.
And I think we’re going to see a lot more of these products.”
Køstald, who is also the owner of a local clothing shop, has seen the change.
“There used to be a lot of products made in Norway,” she says.
“Nowadays, we’re getting more products made abroad.
People are starting to realise that the internet has really helped people in Norway.”
Köstald also points out that there’s more competition in Norway than elsewhere in Europe.
The average price of a Norwegian handmade product is higher than the average in Germany, France and Spain.
She thinks this reflects a greater demand for Norwegian products.
“The price of handmade goods has also increased a lot,” she adds.
“It’s a bit more expensive.
It means that we can buy more products.
But we can also buy better quality products, too.
It is an interesting phenomenon.”
