Jodie and Donald Trump are in a state of mourning after the president’s first tweets in more than a week.
“Devastated that my wife and I have lost our son Jodika Trump Jr. to this horrible terrorist attack in Belgium,” Trump wrote on Wednesday.
“I just spoke to his mom and her heart is broken.
Our prayers are with her and her family.
God bless America!”
The tweets came a day after Trump tweeted that “our prayers are w/ Jodikae and his mom” after he learned of the attack.
The Trump family tweeted out a statement saying that Jodi’s father, Trump Jr., was in Brussels on Wednesday morning and that the elder Trump had just flown to the United Kingdom for a scheduled appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
“Jodikai, the youngest son of my wife, Jodica, and our only child, is with us in the United States today.
His mother, Joleen, is currently in Brussels.
We are deeply saddened by this terrible tragedy and we are praying for her and for the people of Belgium,” the statement read.
The couple has been married for nearly 30 years and the elder Donald, Jr., also a child of Jodji, is an attorney who previously worked at the Trump Organization.
Jodika’s mother, who is a Dutch citizen, and a French citizen were among the dozens of people killed in the terrorist attack.
Joleen’s father also works as a lawyer, and is a member of the European Parliament, according to his LinkedIn page.
He is a former chairman of the French Council for the Protection of the Family.
